Butterwick Hospice Care
Butterwick is looking for a new updatable content management website.
Your New WordPress Website
Launched in 2012, Volution is an established marketing and design agency. Our creative work and ideas result in greater sales for you. We lift your claims beyond the sameness of others and make them believable, persuasive and urgent.
It’s work that works.
Getting you known is not the answer.
Getting you wanted, is
HOMEPAGE
Solid call to action/s attracting email subscribers and donations from which a slow burn relationship will be formed. Consistent motivating media for site visitors to get involved or easily offer a donation
ABOUT
We suggest new team photos and action shots of people working.
These are great and far better than stock photos which unfortunately litters your industry. Creating a virtual personal relationship.
CASE STUDIES
Listing clients are great, testimonials are better but giving it some context in a case study is considerably better.
A range of case studies will serve you for years to come.
SERVICES
This should be split up into the primary reasons people use your services, with labeled headers to match.
For example ‘hospital care’, ‘outpatient care and support’. Doing this means people can relate your headers to solutions to their problems in a fast and effective manner.
CALL TO ACTION
We’ll strategically place a contact/enquiry form and donate options at the bottom of each page that makes sense.
PROCESS
How do you work? What’s required of your clients? It’s worth detailing your process in advance.
RESOURCES
In this day and age, it’s vital to give away content and advice in advance in order to “win people over” that you’re the right place for the job. Frequently asked questions from the kinds of clients you want more of is a great place to start when thinking about what content to produce.
Why Choose WordPress?
This means, should you ever decide to move on from us at any point in the future you can take your website with you and there’s a 90% chance that any competent web developer will be able to help you.
On the chance that it’s late on a Sunday night and you’re making website edits and get stuck with something and we’re not around, you can just Google your problem.
Here’s an example:
Let’s search Google for something very specific: “How to wrap text around my text in WordPress“
There is so much support and help available for WordPress. It can be fiddly at times, but on the whole, it’s the best in the world at what it does. Many have tried to copy its simplicity and nothing has come close.
This is why we recommend it and why we fully believe it’s the best platform from which to build websites – certainly for small to medium business (SME).

Website Examples
You will notice what appears to be the use of large text. Mobile websites dominate views these days, so therefore a new website will be optimised for mobile devices.
I was looking for these website amenities:
https://www.butterwick.org.uk/
Colour overlays make website washed out. Use of light blue menu options makes poor visibility for older visually impaired people. SEO optimisation poor. Link to shop but no real online shop. Improved navigation required. Formats poorly within mobile devices.
https://www.worldwildlife.org/ Number 1
Fantastic design. With the use of info-graphics. Paneled Metro design articles. Impressive navigation using mega-menus
https://www.adoptalovestory.com/ Number 2
Great cross-platform design for desktop and mobile. Uncomplicated easy read. Needs better more effective navigation like a mega menu
https://acumen.org/ Number 3
Excellent use of video with clear mobile-friendly messages. Donate options clearly marked. Vibrant design. Simple navigation missing mega-menus
http://www.alicehousehospice.co.uk/
Mentioned; As a desktop view website it functions well
https://www.togetherforshortlives.org.uk/
Contemporary modern design with superb navigation. Clear donate links. Good mobile viewing, where colour makes the mobile view more absorbing
https://rainbowtrust.org.uk/
This is probably one of the best child charity websites I’ve seen. Clear simple navigation. Great use of colour. Easy donation straight from the homepage
https://www.rainbows.co.uk/
Design elements of this website could be used to make a more kids friendly section of Butterwick
https://www.gatesfoundation.org/
Obviously, a world leading charity and good design (only). Navigation convoluted and not clear, I guess Gates websites are just as hard to use as his operating systems! I suspect this website doesn’t convert for action or donation, but Bill has the money!
https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/
Straightforward donate at top of the page. Looks good on mobile devices. Plenty of call to actions. Secondary navigation at bottom of the page. Good top navigation near donate options
https://lifeanddeathmatters.ca/
Clear well-designed layout let down by its lack of donating links
https://www.pilgrimshospices.org/
Good clarity in design. Navigation simple. Good top photo to motivate emotion. Bright but corporate design
https://savethestorks.com/
Non invasive corporate design. Like the easy to use donate form. Overlays in light grey whih looks better the Butterwick’s
http://www.care.org/
Links to donate and shops. Emotive messaging to inspire action. Info-graphics used for good mobile navigation. Nice design a bit colourful for palliative care. Brilliant navigation with mega menus

Website Training
We will deliver up to 5 hours training, split into several small online remote sessions, during which we will demonstrate how to use WordPress, the (WooCommerce) shop system including adding website pages and posts content. 90 minutes of this time will include basic online marketing methods during which we can supply online marketing literature containing examples and demonstrations.
Further Essential Requirements
Further Essential Requirements
In order for you and us to work remotely and manage WordPress efficiently, the following is necessary:
Future Marketing
Just as a physical shop or business requires consistent effort and ongoing costs to promote and develop trust in your services and products you sell, an online website/shop requires the same commitment.
We will demonstrate basic methods to help your online shop achieve its commercial goals and find new customers, however, it may be necessary to invest in extra advertising (i.e Google Adwords), marketing and building online interaction with your customers through social networking, blogging etc to achieve your sales or business objectives. We can quote for ongoing marketing assistance if required.
Disclaimer: In essence, we are the shop fitters and you are the shop owner. We cannot guarantee and we are not responsible for the success of your online website/catalogue/shop.
Marketing requires some basic skills which can be learned from tutorials. However finding unique, new and interesting products which will attract customers to visit and buy from your website in a competitive internet market is not easy. Service-based businesses require you to keep your customers informed in detail of what you offer. You will not be successful if you cannot better-established website/catalogue/shops already offering established brands with reliability, value, and trust. We, therefore, recommend you have business experience and entrepreneurial skills before accepting this proposal.
Website Maintenance and Software
We endeavour to create an attractive website with stable functionality. Website technology has developed greatly so that current websites and online catalogue/shops require the use of complex software and hardware not under our control.
The technologies we use sometimes develops software bugs, security vulnerabilities and hardware faults. It is therefore important you realise you may incur extra costs and should, therefore, budget for these costs should something happen. We offer 3 months warranty from date of final payment and project sign off. During this period we will maintain the site after which time, maintenance and updates are chargeable. Whatever happens, your website is configured to backup the database every night and a whole website backup is taken every week.
Other Considerations
Registration of your brand
Should you wish to register your brand as a trademark to prevent unwanted copying, distribution and usage of your brand mark without consent we can arrange this for you. This is vital if you are looking to become significantly prevalent in your area of expertise.
Monthly support packages
We offer ongoing support contracts, which would include website updates, SEO, review and support and web analytics should this be required. Please ask for a quotation.
Payment structure
Volution requires a deposit before any work is commenced. On completion of the project we require the second payment. The final payment will be due after a 28 days review period, allowing certain changes to be made and any unforeseen issues to be ironed out. “Think of it as crossing the Ts and dotting the Is”. We want you to be happy with the end result but we also want to be organised with our payment structure. It keeps both our minds at rest.
40% deposit
40% second payment
20% final payment
We hold professional indemnity (£250,000) insurance and public liability (£1,000,000) insurance from Hiscox. Our policy is available on request.

Relax, you’re never really stuck with WordPress!
Process & Timescales
We need to get to the bottom of who you are, what you stand for and what your customers want from you.
Only then can we begin to create a design that portrays the value you offer in a way that resonates with the people who matter: the people you want Butterwick’s support.
We offer up to three new design concepts to select from. Naturally there will be a common theme but we try to think outside the box and come up with something that isn’t obvious. Often the best ideas come from you.
We’ll go through these options and decide which direction to take and any adjustments.
Now we have your design locked-in, we can begin to construct the website. We will help suggest what copywriting needs to be created the “voice” of your new brand. If required we can supply copywriting services to put your ideas down in an eloquent easy to read format
Any photos and videos will need to be gathered at this stage.
Using everything we’ve gathered, your website is built. Once it’s done, we’ll present it to you and go through the details in accordance with the objectives originally set.
Any amends are made at this stage.
The launch process is a carefully considered one. We need to ensure email addresses don’t go down, the site doesn’t have any downtime, any old links are re-directed to the new pages and several other things.
This is something we’ve done hundreds of times before.
We operate to a checklist which we’ve curated over the years and it’s not failed us once.
We always launch late on a Friday night to give us the best chance of getting any issues ironed out.
You can sleep easy knowing we’ll be on-call over your launch weekend to ensure everything goes according to plan.
In total, your website will be online within 8 – 10 weeks
Approve Proposal
If you would like to join us and become a client then we’d be delighted to have you.
NEXT STEPS
1. Sign below by typing your name and hitting ‘Sign Proposal’
2. We’ll arrange the initial interview where we’ll gather all the details we need.
3. We’ll be in touch with your invoice details and will set up billing
Term & Conditions
Butterwick’s Hospice Care are hiring Volution located at 3 North View, Clara Vale, Ryton, Tyne and Wear, NE30 4SX to design and develop a website for the estimated total price of £3250 outlined in our previous correspondence.
As our customer, you have the power and ability to enter into this contract on behalf of your company or organization. You agree to provide me with everything that I need to complete the project including text, images, fonts and other information as and when we need it, and in the format that we ask for. You agree to review my work, provide feedback, and sign-off approval in a timely manner and are bound by any deadlines that we set together. You also agree to keep to the payment schedule set out in this proposal.
We have the experience and ability to perform the services you need and we will carry them out in a professional and timely manner. We will endeavor to meet all the deadlines set but am not responsible for a missed launch date or a deadline if you have been late in supplying materials or have not approved my work on time at any stage. I will also maintain the confidentiality of any information that you give me.
Details of the works
We will create designs for the look, layout, and functionality of your website. This contract includes one main design and two opportunities for you to make revisions to the final design. If you are not happy with the design at that point, I will provide you with an additional quote for extra design work needed. If instead, you wish to cancel our agreement, you may do so and I will retain the initial payment for the work completed to date.
HTML/CSS layout templates
I will develop using valid HTML5 markup and CSS3 for styling within the WordPress CMS. I will test all my markup and CSS in current versions of all major browsers including those made by Apple, Microsoft, Mozilla, Google and Opera. I will also test to ensure that pages will display visually in a similar—not necessarily an identical—way in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 for Windows as this browser is now past its sell-by date.
We will not test these templates in old or abandoned browsers, for example, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, 5.5 or 6 for Windows or Mac, previous versions of Apple’s Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Opera unless otherwise specified.
Text content
We are not responsible for writing or inputting any text copy. We will be happy to help, but significant work on my part will result in a charge above and beyond the original price. This will not be done without your approval of an additional quote provided in advance.
Photographs
If needed, you will supply us with photographs either in digital or printed format. If you choose to buy stock photographs that price will be added to the initial quote. Stock photography will not be purchased without your written approval.
Changes and revisions
The estimate/quotation prices in this proposal are based on the time we estimate we will need to accomplish everything that you have told me you want to achieve. If you do want to change your mind, add extra pages or templates, or even add new functionality, that won’t be a problem. At that time you will be provided with an additional quote for the extra work.
Monthly maintenance
As agreed, the quote provided includes the installation and set up of your site on your server as well as the implementation of Google Analytics. Updates to, and management of that server, plus any support issues will be up to you.
We do offer and include technical support for website hosting, email, or other services relating to website hosting. If you do require help with anything beyond the design and development of your site, I will be happy to help.
Legal
We are not liable to you or any third party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings, or other incidental, consequential or special damages arising out of the operation of or inability to operate this website and any other web pages—even if you have advised us of the possibilities of such damages.
If any provision of this agreement shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
Copyrights
You guarantee to me that any elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks, or other artwork that you provide me for inclusion in the website are either owned by you or that you have permission to use them.
When I receive your final payment, copyright is automatically assigned as follows:
You own the graphics and other visual elements that we create for you for this project. I will give you a copy of all files and you should store them carefully as I am not required to keep them or provide any native source files that I used in making them, however, we do keep many data backups.
You also own text content, photographs, and other data you provided unless someone else owns them. We own the HTML markup, CSS, and other code and we license it to you for use on only this project.
We also reserve the right to display and link to your completed project as part of my portfolio and to write about the project on websites, in magazine articles, and in books.
Payments
As agreed, our payment schedule will be as follows but may be revised based on further conversations between us.
40% of total fee upon agreement of initial design: [deposit fee]
40% of total on delivery of the website (pre-snagging): [second fee]
20% of total fee on completion of the project: [balance]
Interest accrued if payment is more than 14 days late. We reserve the right to add 5% any outstanding balance every 7 days, starting from 15th day after receipt of the finished product.
You cannot transfer this contract to anyone else without my permission. This contract stays in place and need not be renewed. If for some reason one part of this contract becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts of it remain in place.
